I would like to
extend sincere and heartfelt Condolences to the families of
The islands are
saddened by the untimely passing of Dr. Dungca on Feb. 15, 2016 at the age of 75.
An advocate and proponent of language and culture .. the Chamoru Language and Culture. The vast accolades attributed to her lifetime
passion to promote, to perpetuate and to preserve are evident: co-authored, along with Donald M. Topping and
Pedro Ogo, the Chamorro-English Dictionary, Chamorro Reference Grammar and
Spoken Chamorro; wrote the “Inifresi”; Professor at the University Of Guam’s
School of Education; Consultant to the Chamorro Language Commission, initiated
the Chamorro Teaching Degree Institute, to name a few. Of the many organizations she is affiliated
with, Dr. Dungca was a great supporter of PIBBA throughout her leadership as
member and officer.
Dr. Dungca leaves
behind a profound legacy that we all are grateful for. As a mentor, constituent, colleague, teacher,
daughter, mother, grandmother, friend, she is Saina to the many lives she’s
touched in one way or another. Her
wisdom, wit, laughter, guidance, smile we certainly will miss. Thank You, Lord, for allowing her to touch
our hearts in ways she did.
May Eternal Rest
Grant On To Her, O Lord, And Let Perpetual Light Shine Upon Her And All The
Souls Of The Faithfully Departed .. Rest In Peace. Amen.
